Muscular Dystrophy Association is an advocacy organization devoted to fighting muscular dystrophy by raising awareness and supporting innovative research into the disease. In May 2019, MDA celebrated another successful fundraising effort from Dutch Bros. Coffee, which for the past 13 years has sponsored a one-day event called “Drink One for Dane” that raises money for the charity. The event is named for Dane Boersma, one of the co-founders of Dutch Bros. Coffee, who passed away in 2009 as a result of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This year, the event brought in over $1.3 million in funding for MDA to continue its life-saving research into the prevention and treatment of ALS.
In his comments, MDA president and CEO Lynn O’Connor Vos expressed pride in the work the organization has been able to accomplish due to the generous support of Dutch Bros. Coffee over the years. She also reaffirmed the commitment of both entities to continue working toward finding a cure for ALS.
