Earlier this year, the MDA announced a $300,000 funding package that will go toward the development of a new comprehensive online platform to work with the electronic medical record system and help collect clinical trial data from ALS patients. The new ALS Toolkit will be developed by the Clinical Research in ALS and Related Disorders for Therapeutic Development (CReATe) Consortium.
The CReATe Consortium will build an automated data collection system with the funding, which will be distributed over a two-year period. Ultimately, making data easily available to physicians will help them craft new and more effective clinical trials, which will create more opportunities for patients to take part in research studies.
